Role-Specific – All directors and managers involved in projects can attend

About the Program
Project Portfolio management is lagging behind its operational cousins of product and stocks portfolios in several key areas.
  1. Availability and reliability of accurate data
  2. Intelligent data analysis to produce reliable knowledge to be incorporated into performance reports
  3. Representation of those performance reports in 4 dimensions
  4. Real time and same time access to those reports
  5. Tracking of the effectiveness of any changes and corrective actions

This workshop will provide an overview of the history of the knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques used in Project Portfolio Management. It will then delve into these 5 areas in particular to see how we can improve the discipline. Finally, we will look for opportunities to improve our current approach in our organizations and develop actions plans to take away from the course.

The attendees will also get to play a Project Portfolio board game that is designed to allow them to create, change, and track the various returns, investments, and challenges with a 12-project portfolio. The game is designed to illustrate the many challenges with Project Portfolio Management in a fun and interactive manner. The individual exercises are designed to illustrate and promote dialogue around the 5 lagging areas mentioned above.
