Inventor & Founder
Ann Makosinski is a 21-year-old student, serial inventor and media darling who is
doing numerous global appearances and keynote talks. When Ann was a child her first toy
was a box of transistors, which launched her journey into the world of inventing. Ann started
participating in her local science fair, and developed a passion to explore the world of
alternative energy harvesting. When Ann’s friend in the Philippines messaged her explaining
that she failed her grade in school because she couldn’t afford electricity or light to study
with at night, Ann knew she could solve her friend’s problem. She invented the Hollow
Flashlight, a flashlight that runs off the heat of the human hand. Ann’s flashlight won at both
the Intel Science and Engineering Fair and Google Science Fair. Her next invention was the
eDrink, a coffee mug that converts the excess heat of your hot drink into electricity, giving
your phone or iPod a boost of energy.

The next chapter of Ann’s life began after her flashlight won the Google Science Fair,
propelling her invention to viral status. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon invited her to
appear to introduce the Hollow Flashlight. Jimmy Fallon fell in love with her and invited Ann
back to introduce the eDrink as well. Ann’s celebrity as a brilliant inventor launched her into
becoming one of the most sought after inventors and global influencers of her generation. S he
was named to both the Forbes 30 Under 30 and Times 30 Under 30 lists. She was one of
Glamour Magazine’s top ten College Women of the Year, one of seven Teen Vogue Global
Earth Angels, and Popular Science’s “Breakout Young Inventor of the Year.” Ann appeared
with Miley Cyrus for Converse, was named the global brand ambassador for Uniqlo fleece, in
addition to endorsing multiple other brands including the Google Pixel 2, where she worked
with Vice to create the campaign.

Ann is frequently traveling the world delivering keynote talks ranging from a private
event at the Pictet Bank in Geneva, events hosted by McCann Erickson in NYC for their
major clients, King Abdullah’s University for Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, five
TEDx talks, and even the Arctic, where she sailed through on an icebreaker ship.
Ann recently spoke at the Forbes Impact Summit in NYC, the Congreso Futuro in Chile, the
Atlantic Festival in Ireland, the Y20 Summit in Argentina, and the EF Leadership Summit in
Berlin. Ann just spoke in Berlin for the Formula E Championship race to speak at its partner
event, the Greentech Conference, run by race car driver Nico Rosberg. She is off next to
Toronto to speak at the Future Launch event run by the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).
She will be spending the summer in NYC while working on a new line of innovative
toys powered by green energy, taking acting classes at HB Studios, and writing her memoir
for a major publisher.
